In de Voorjaarsnota staat dat er 2,5 miljard euro extra wordt uitgegeven aan steun voor Oekraïne. Dit brengt het totale bedrag dat het kabinet dit begrotingsjaar alleen al aan steun voor Oekraïne uitgeeft op 6 miljard euro, zowel militair als niet-militair, merkte Van Houwelingen op in de Tweede Kamer.

Bijna net zoveel als we aan de bijstand uitgeven
“Een kolossaal bedrag, bijna net zoveel als we jaarlijks in totaal aan de bijstand uitgeven in Nederland. Terwijl veel Nederlanders met moeite de eindjes aan elkaar kunnen knopen, terwijl meer dan een half miljoen van onze landgenoten onder de armoedegrens moeten leven, terwijl jongeren zich geen woning meer kunnen veroorloven, kiest dit kabinet ervoor dit jaar vele miljarden te stoppen in een oorlog die helemaal niet onze oorlog zou moeten zijn en waarvan het grote slachtoffer Oekraïne zelf is,” zei het Kamerlid.
6 miljard euro, net zoveel geld dus als dit jaar naar alle Nederlanders gaat die van een bijstandsuitkering moeten rondkomen, benadrukte Van Houwelingen.
De helft van ons bbp
Verder blijkt uit de Voorjaarsnota dat Nederland meer dan verwacht moet betalen en afdragen aan allerlei organisaties, waaronder de EU, de NAVO en de VN. “Dit wordt onder andere veroorzaakt doordat zowel de VS als Rusland, heel verstandig, ervoor kiezen om zich uit dit soort internationale gremia terug te trekken en daarmee een financieel gat achterlaten in de begroting, dat onder andere door Nederland moet worden opgevuld.”
En als de extra uitgaven die dit kabinet wil gaan spenderen aan Defensie worden meegerekend, is de verwachting dat in 2033 de helft van ons bbp zal worden uitgegeven door de overheid. Van Houwelingen: “Zelfs in het tijdperk-Den Uyl bleven de collectieve uitgaven als percentage van ons nationaal inkomen onder de 50 procent.”
