WASHINGTON, DC – Republican Rep. Chip Roy delivered an impassioned address from the House floor earlier in May, asking when Congress officially “voted to go to war,” when referencing much of the war-based rhetoric his colleagues in the House have been espousing as of late.

Red Voice Media previously reported on comments made on the House floor by Democrat House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer on May 13th that basically denigrated House Republicans who have merely been critical of the current administration.

While delivering those remarks against House Republicans, House Majority Leader Hoyer also implied that the United States is currently at war with Russia.

“Mr. Speaker, it is unfortunate that a in time of war, that we spend all the time blaming our own president. It is unfortunate that when the Europeans put themselves over the objections of numerous administrations in a place where they had dependence on Russia. Russia has no leverage over us, we don’t need Russia for energy. And, as a matter of fact, we voted overwhelmingly to stop buying any petroleum products from Russia, which I supported strongly.”

As if the aforementioned statement didn’t already allude enough to Hoyer asserting that the U.S. was at war with Russia, he continued on from there with adding, “I wish we’d get off this and really focus on the enemy. I know there’s a lot of politics here, but we’re at war. We need to produce energy.”

Rep. Roy addressed these reckless comments from the House Majority leader, asking his colleagues in Congress when there was ever an official vote to go to war with a foreign power.

“I support Ukrainians, but I represent Americans. And Americans want to stand alongside Zelenskyy and push back on Putin, but they want us to do our job responsibly. When I hear the Majority Leader of the other party say, quote, ‘a time of war,’ when I sat with the Majority Leader in a rules committee meeting upstairs and he said, ‘we’re at war,’ – and I’m wondering when we voted to go to war?”

The Republican congressman continued from there, lambasting the fact that while America is enduring its own series of crises, we’re simultaneously handing out billions frivolously abroad.

“If we’re going to have a proxy war and we’re going to give $40 billion to Ukraine because we want to look all fancy with our blue and yellow ribbons, feel good about ourselves, maybe we should actually have a debate in this chamber, a debate in this body, because the American people expect us to do that.

“When the border of this country is wide open, and cartels have control of it, and fentanyl is pouring in, and we have $30.5 trillion in debt, and gas prices are spiking at $1,100 to fill a tank of diesel, and we go ‘Oh, blank check, $40 billion.’ And by the way, I’m looking at my colleagues on this side of the aisle on that same point.”
