New York Attorney General Leticia James announced the findings of the independent probe into Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s (D-N.Y.) sexual harassment allegations. According to James on Tuesday, the probe turned up extensive evidence that Cuomo had sexually harassed multiple women and created a toxic work environment.
Independent investigators Joon Kim and Anne Clark found Cuomo engaged in unwanted groping and kissing as well as took action to retaliate against one former employee for coming forward with her story. They interviewed 179 individuals and reviewed over 74,000 pieces of evidence.
“The investigators found the Governor Cuomo’s actions and those of the executive chamber violated multiple state and federal laws as well as the executive chamber’s own written policies,” James announced. “This investigation has revealed conduct that corrodes the very fabric and character of our state government.”

Though the probe was not a criminal one, it could influence the state legislature’s impeachment inquiry. Cuomo has denied all allegations.
