“DHS pakt hard aan en arresteert meer dan 17.500 illegale immigranten onder de nieuwe Laken Riley-wet”

In 2025, more than 17,500 illegal immigrants have been arrested under the Laken Riley Act, a law signed by President Trump. This law mandates ICE detention for those accused of crimes like theft, DUI, and violence, in memory of murdered Georgia student Laken Riley.

Recently, DHS conducted “Operation Angel’s Honor,” arresting over 1,000 offenders, including serious criminals from various countries. Secretary Kristi Noem commended the efforts, while critics like Nayna Gupta raised concerns about due process and immigration enforcement disruption.

Reacting to the crackdown, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem declared, “In honor of Laken Riley, ICE launched Operation Angel’s Honor, arresting over 1,000 criminal illegal aliens in the last 2 weeks alone.”

ICE Director Todd Lyons stated, “We named this operation ‘Angel’s Honor’ in memory of Laken Riley, a victim of illegal alien crime. ICE’s mission is to prevent more Americans from falling victim to such crimes.”

Despite opposition, the law aims to address safety concerns and immigration system flaws. Critics argue it violates basic rights and empowers state attorneys general over immigration policy.

ICE explained that the law is named after Laken Riley, a nursing student killed by an illegal alien previously arrested and released under the Biden administration.

As the document concludes, DHS condemns blue states complicit in allowing such violence to occur, emphasizing the need for stronger enforcement.
