Het Nieuws Maar Dan Anders,

Anders Hoor Je Het Niet!

Democratische wetgever beschuldigd van trekken van pistool op kiezer bij stembureau tijdens verloren voorverkiezing.

In South Carolina, Democratic state Rep. Michael Rivers found himself in hot water after allegedly brandishing a gun at his primary challenger’s uncle outside a polling place. This incident occurred during the election that ultimately led to the end of Rivers’ reelection campaign. Despite denying any wrongdoing, Rivers was arrested and later released on bond.

The altercation took place on June 9th at the Green Pond Community Center in Colleton County, where Rivers and his opponent Shannon DeLoach were engaging with voters during the state primaries. The dispute reportedly arose over the campaign for the legislative seat, leading Rivers to retrieve a firearm from his vehicle and point it at the victim. Video evidence supported the allegations, although the victim’s name remains undisclosed.

Despite the tension, DeLoach attempted to have a civil conversation with Rivers, only to be met with hostility. The situation escalated when the victim, Oliver Francis, intervened to defend his nephew. Rivers allegedly pointed the gun at Francis before driving away, leaving a disturbing scene behind.

Rivers, a minister and Air Force veteran, now faces charges of pointing and presenting a firearm at a person, a felony offense in South Carolina. His legal team maintains his innocence, emphasizing his years of service and military background. However, the outcome of this case will ultimately determine his fate.

As the dust settles from this shocking incident, it serves as a stark reminder of the volatile nature of politics. Let us not turn a blind eye to such behavior and demand accountability from our elected officials. The power lies in our hands to uphold integrity and decency in our political landscape.
